Prerequisites
Students must have earned at least a grade
of B or higher in either Art 1-2 or 3D art -- with a recommendation. Students
without previous art classes may be eligible by portfolio review and interview
with Advanced Art instructor Mr. Knight.
Overview
This art course will introduce you to various aspects of art with an emphasis
on drawing and painting. We will explore light, value, space, proportion,
composition and perspective. We will use pencil, charcoal, ink, watercolor,
acrylic, and other mediums. With each assignment you will learn concept, composition,
style, and technical skills, with an emphasis on originality and risk-taking.
Class time is designed to encourage investigation and invention through Special exercises, assignments, demonstrations and discussion.
Student Performance Objectives
You will be able to demonstrate and recognize
the five main techniques two dimensional visual artists use to make their
artworks appear three dimensional.
You will also develop a basic
visual/art vocabulary and will be able to critique your own work.
You will develop a portfolio of original work.
